The new head of the Council of Economic Advisers will not be a part of the new Trump administration cabinet. There are many business executives already on the Trump cabinet, but there is a difference between economic policy experts and business leaders. At the national level one of the largest economic problems of the 21st century has been managing the budget and this is projected to get even worse under the new administration.

Discussion Questions:

1. Given all the business expertise on the Trump cabinet, is it reasonable to leave the head of the Council of Economic Advisers off of the cabinet?

2. Would economic policy expertise go well alongside the business leaders to help the administration manage the budget or can the business leaders handle this responsibly?

3. Can the Trump administration be trusted to make responsible business decisions with the tax dollars they receive from Americans?

  1. Since they are experts in business, perhaps the Trump administration can make reasonable and responsible choices. However, they aren't economoc experts meaning that they perhaps won't be able to predict how their choices will affect the future as well as the Council of Economic Advisers.

  2. I dont think it was smart for Trump to not include them. Business expertise may not be enough to manage a country. There needs to be economic policy advisers to help guide the president.

  3. There is always a sense of unknowing with these decisions of leadership and what will happen with tax dollars for certain functions. Having business executives with expertise in their products or fields is a big plus, but having educated economic advisers to give theoretical approach to balance the practical knowledge can never ever hurt and should have been kept on the board. There has to be a certain level of trust as to what will happen with the taxpayer dollars, but we cannot know until the budgets roll in.

  4. Extra help never does anyone bad. Therefore, there was no need to get rid of the head of the Council of Economic Advisers. Making economic decisions for a country requires strategies to keep the economy stable.
