Danish Companies Seek to Hire, but Everyone's Already Working

Denmark’s economy is growing too fast for the workforce to keep up with. When employers are trying to look for people to do specialized jobs, everyone is already working. Now that Europe is recovering from its economic fall, Denmark is growing extremely fast. Industries with advanced technology cannot recruit enough people to fill jobs that require highly specialized skills. The labor shortage could impact and possibly stunt their growth if they don’t find workers soon. Their growth will quickly stop if they don’t satisfy their labor supply. Germany has similar problems because they do not have enough engineers or nurses. Both Denmark and Germany are looking to start programs to train refugees for these positions, but not enough of them are qualified to do these jobs. This problem is severely hurting the potential of many of these fast growing companies. If this is not fixed soon, it could be detrimental to Denmark’s newly regrown economy.

  1. How do you think employers in Denmark could solve this problem?
  2. How does this contrast the the US’s problem with the work force?
  3. How do you think this will play out on its effect on the economy?

  1. This problem is a very interesting one, almost opposite some problems of the American economy. The American Economy is over saturated with highly trained workers who can't find the work they are looking for at the price they want to be payed.

  3. To bring people from other countries to come work for them and to pay them more because they have to leave their country to work for them and compared to the US it is quite opposite problem as people in US struggle to find jobs

  4. Denmark's situation contrasts with America's in the sense that in America there is more than enough demand for jobs, it is the supply that is low. I agree with the article that if Denmark cannot satisfy these job positions, in the long run it will hurt their economy from growing more.

  5. I think Denmark needs to create jobs and an environment that attracts new workers. They need to create a job market that attracts new workers.

  6. I don't think they have much option besides training refugees for their jobs, unless they bring in more people with those skills.

  7. Denmark should open up their job openings to people outside of the preferred skill level. These people even might learn new skills on the job. In contrast to the US, we have many unemployed here as opposed to Denmark, a smaller country than ours.

  8. I think Denmark's plan to recruit refugees will not only positively affect Denmark's economy, but the refugees' lives as well. I'm a strong believer that anyone, no matter how poor, can rise up from their place in society, and it's great that Denmark are giving refugees an opportunity to do so.

  9. I also believe that Denmark should be more open to having people who may need to be trained. As this is good for the future and the economy.

  10. They could look for people that are willing to work more than one job or they could offer really great incentives.

  11. The problem Denmark and Germany is having is a interesting one and does not occur often. One way they can fix this problem is giving the jobs to refugee's but then they need people to teach them about the jobs. This could cause more of a problem. One solution is to out source the jobs which would also increase their economy strength

  12. the people from denmark should make more jobs that people would wnat to work at

  13. I believe that the best way to approaching this problem is simply trying to attract outsiders to come to Denmark. The only real way to fix such an interesting conflict is by getting more people to populate your country.

  14. It is however very interesting that this contrasts so heavily with the US problem of unemployment, and a possible solution could be to get some people from the US to migrate to Denmark?

  16. I think this problem could be solved by providing Denmark residents resources so they could be up to date with the new open jobs there are. This contrasts the American economy because there are many high skilled employees who can't find a job.

  18. What Denmark needs to do is create jobs that will get people to work for and for a good price as well. It contrast with U.S. because people can't find jobs that suite them.

  19. Denmark needs to create jobs that people will be more wiling to work for. People have to want the job they have.

  20. Employer in Denmark could potentially increase wages. They could also fund educational programs which supply the specific type of worker they need. The US obviously has this problem in a few instances, for example, computer engineers are always in high demand. For the most part though, the jobs that require low skill levels are crowded and often there are people left unemployed.

  21. Employers in Denmark can raise their wages to get more people to work for them or try to find refugees who already know or can learn how to do the job.

  22. During these circumstances, refugees and immigrants are the only solution. I don't see any other people who could fill in the gap. Here in the US, there a lot of demand in Computer Science and we are seeing a trend where most of these people are from overseas and may this is what Denmark needs to be doing.

  23. If wages are raised then people may be more interested in the job. These people have to think of any possible strategies to get people to work for them. There has to be someway for people to feel confident to work and for a good pay.

  24. Why don't they get some American engineers and nurses to go over there? Job opportunities in these professions can be competitive here, so it would make sense for the government in Denmark to welcome any foreign workers to help keep up the progress of their economy.

  25. I think they should expand their horizon and offer jobs to other individuals outside of Denmark. They could train individuals to do the basics and fill in the empty jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree that they should be looking to send more people outside of Denmark into to increase their employment

  27. I feel that the only way they can solve this problem is if they had less jobs, or more people to move in. The US is very different because there are so many people looking for jobs, while Denmark needs more people. I think that the economy will somehow balance out, and fix itself.

  28. Unless they create a more appealing environment that will make people from other countries want to work there, then they should start training the refugees to become qualified. If they don't find a way to solve this problem soon, this will hurt the future of their economy.

  30. I think its a good idea to train refugees and people from other countries to work at their companies. This ironic because in the US their is not enough jobs in for everyone. If people are not found for jobs I think the economy will get worst.

    ReplyDelete
  31. They will more than likely need to make an exception for the unqualified refugees if they are looking to fill more positions. And this is ironic because here in the US there are many people and refugees who come to the US to find work but have trouble finding anyone who hires.

  32. I feel like more jobs outside of Denmark should be opened and if people can't find jobs, the economy will not improve.

    ReplyDelete
  33. if denmark has a worker shortage and a job surplus, they should be opened to others from other countries, as many have a shortage of jobs and a surplus of workers

  34. Employers in Denmark could solve this problem by hiring people outside of Denmark. Maybe they could look at other countries with the specified skills to work for them. This affects the US work force because their skilled engineers will go out to different countries to work over there.

  35. I agree with others that jobs outside of Denmark should open up. This would benefit the economy because it will decrease unemployment.

  36. I think Denmark needs to create jobs and an environment that attracts new workers. A better job market would help attract new people to work for them and in their country

  37. Training refugees to do the jobs they need the most seems like a possible idea or plan they can try to carry out.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I also agree with the idea of opening up jobs outside of Denmark.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The idea of training refugees is plausible, but finding a way to do this efficiently enough to keep up with the growing economy may be difficult. Denmark contrasts with the US in that many people in the US are having trouble finding jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I also agree with the idea of creating jobs outside of Denmark. It contrasts because the US has too little jobs.

  41. Having too many jobs is a matter of too fast of growth that is too much for a single nation. Growth typically matches labor markets and their growth or education as well, so the rapid increase isn't always something to be astounded at. The high rate could come from artificial growth or a smaller population, but the new workers would have to come from inside, and instigating competition with other nation's workers could increase internal desire to educate and/or invite more legal citizens.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Since this is an inherent problem to Denmark having a low population size to fulfill the job needs of these companies the only logical solution is to artificially increase the population size by allowing more immigrants and refugees to come in and be hard working productive members of society. I think the U.S actually want to create more jobs for people who are just living on the streets, that's something I heard Bernie Sanders say. I think the strategy of training refugees is going to take some time so probably this plan will work by 2025.

  43. I believe that this is a great deal because if you want to build your economy up and also help people that have been ran out of their country then go for it. It is the opposite for the US because of Trump's very dumb donkey.

  45. I don't think that they'll be able to fix this problem because they already said themselves that most people are not qualified so just that alone makes it nearly impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think they can try to solve the problem but I don't think it will work. I agree of the idea of opening more jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with Jaclyn because they can do as much as they can do solve the problem but wouldn't get anywhere.

  48. I believe that with a problem like this all get can do is try. There is nothing wrong will trying to make it work, although it may not get the result they are aiming for

    ReplyDelete
  49. I believe this is a good situation to be in because it forces employers to treat employees well because there is competition to keep their workers. I don't think denmark should rush to try and fix this problem unless there is a significant negative effect, if more employees are necessary and the jobs cannot be filled with machines, then looking for employees internationally would be a good idea.
