AT&T is cutting the price of its unlimited data plans
AT&T has a new data plan! They released on Sunday that they would be offering a new data plan this week, a basic one and a more advanced one. The basic line is a 40$ price drop from their current plan but it caps out at 3mb per second, which means no high definition streaming. The more fancy plan will cost 90$ for a single line and allows high definition streaming, and the teathering data is 10 gb. The more expensive plan also offers a discount to television services that were previously required on high end data plans. The article also notes that AT&T may slow your speeds each month after you use more than 22gb.1. With this new information, would you think about switching plans to AT&T?2.How can you apply aspects of TRIBE or GETWIN to this situation?3. How do you think other companies will respond to this?
No, Im happy with my cheap T-mobile. There are certain complements that may make it worthwhile but there are many substitutes in the phone company. They will release a better data plan.
ReplyDeleteWith this information I would not suggesting switching plans because the plan I have now provides unlimited data with only 70$ a month and speeds do not slow down. Other companies would of course think of new deals that would make people happier but also to make sure they profit from it so giving a good deal thats not hurting their companies
ReplyDeleteNo. Jack, that wrong. AT&T is the best, facts. I currently have AT&T and my plan is a sharing gig plan between 2 lines which works well for me. But if I were alone on my phone bill I would consider paying $90 for the phone and get a bundle with tv for cheaper. I think other companies will start doing a similar option
ReplyDeleteI think this system works when it's two devices sharing plans, but it may not be the best option for someone on their own.
ReplyDeleteI would not switch to AT&T because I am already satisfied and happy with my current data plan. Other companies may try to come out with new and comparable plans to compete with AT&T
ReplyDeleteThis plan would only make sense is more than one person were on it. As in, a family plan is needed to save the most money. As this AT&T plan is going on, there is also a Verizon plan that is around the same price and offers way more for what you pay. To me, that verizon plan is a lot more worth it than the AT&T plan
ReplyDeleteI'm actually more of a fan of Cricket Wireless, it's like T-Mobile but slightly worse, but hey you get what you pay for. I think At@T needs to do a better job of advertising this service because we all know that they're trying to jump on the bandwagon of the god Verizon trddnstr, in accordance with the theory of Nash Equilibrium in business per se. ONe day I'll save enough Cricket points up to trade it in for the God Verizon.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Arya that the system does work better when two devices are sharing a plan. I personally would not switch to AT&T because I am contempt with my current phone and service status.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the plan is good for parties with more than 1 person. That way, they will get good business as well as people saving money at the same time. I already have at&t and have a family plan as well as unlimited data.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the plan is good for parties with more than 1 person. That way, they will get good business as well as people saving money at the same time. I already have at&t and have a family plan as well as unlimited data.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this new plan will work if it is used between multiple devices. If one is only looking for a singular device, maybe this isn't the best plan around.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jacob that because this plan is only for 1 line so I think that less people are going to switch to this single line plan, but if it was offered for more lines then I think that people will switch to this plan.
ReplyDeleteI would not switch t AT&T because I have a pretty plan already so there would be no point in me switching. I also agree with the others that this plan should be used for several people rather than just one person.
ReplyDeletei would not switch to AT&T because i had it before and even tho it is cheap it still doesn't have a very good cell service. I think that other companies might try to lower there prices so they can compete with AT&T, and attract customers.
ReplyDeleteI would not switch to AT&T because I have a good plan now, and I get good cell service and customer service. AT&T has bad customer service and that is why we switched. Seeing as this plan only supports one line, I don't think it will be popular. People like bundle deals.
ReplyDeleteI have AT&T right now and I love it and would not switch. I agree with Oscar.
ReplyDeleteThe new plan sounds nice, but I don't think it would be worth the money. $90 for a single line is very expensive, and streaming on your phone isn't worth all the extra money. I think if they lowered the price they would make a higher profit.
ReplyDeleteI think that depending on the number of people on the plan, switching to At&T may or may not be a positive change. If you have a party with more than one person, this new plan will be effective. I don't think that other companies will worry too much about this new plan because it would only be worth if the party had more than one person
ReplyDeleteI think that other companies will see the flaws of this plan and attempt to out do AT&T
ReplyDeleteI think there is a lot of research left out of this article, I know from personal experience that I have a different and superior data plan with at&t. If this was the only case however, I can see how many companies could offer a better data plan to their customers causing at&t to lose many of their customers regarding the data-hungry society that we live in today. I actually think that the slowing down of the data if you go past the limited amount is a good reminder to connect to wifi whenever one gets the chance to.
ReplyDeleteI will not even think of switching since my family and myself have had terrible times with this company. Honestly I think that many other companies will just try and do something similar.
ReplyDeleteI think I would consider the plan but probably wouldn't go through with it. I think other companies will come up with better plans and benefits.
ReplyDeleteI mean I think they should go forward with the plan and give it a try but other companies will try to bring on competition
ReplyDeleteI would not consider switching because although it is cheap it is not good quality and I am happy with the carrier I have.
ReplyDeleteOther companies will probably start trying to match AT&T and change their plans as well.
ReplyDeleteI would still not switch to AT&T because they do not offer high definition at the price I am willing to pay.
ReplyDeleteI already got AT&T so im not really tripping about it so in my opinion AT&T got the best plan in general. Other companies will respond very differently to this and will bring a lot more competition.
ReplyDeleteI would never switch because I prefer Sprint over it.
ReplyDeleteI dont think I would ever switch to at&t because I've had it before and it was kind of expensive
ReplyDeleteI will now make an active effort to switch to AT&T. Unlimited data plans had been incredibly inflated since the arrival of the iPhone 5 concept. It will be good to be able to not get demolished by prices for the peace of mind of not running out of data.
ReplyDeleteAs for how it will affect other businesses in the situation, I am very sure it will require them to also lower their prices, as AT&T is a very big competitor, if not the strongest carrier out there, so other companies will be forced to keep up. I might not have to switch at all.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would switch because there are cheaper alternatives like Sprint which is still good. However, I do see how some people may be drawn to this new plan because it is a relatively cheap alternative to say Verizon. I think other companies will try and match the low prices of AT&T.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I would switch my service to AT&T because there are to many restrictions for either the cheaper version of plan as well the more expensive version of the plan. I don't think that companies will do much in reaction to what AT&T is doing for the reason that I believe that many people ill be switching to AT&T and the current rates for other companies are fairly good.I believe that certain companies have their specific plans on service and I think they would want to change it if it works for them.
ReplyDeleteI would not switch to AT&T because there are other companies that offer a lower price than $90 with the high definition streaming included. There would be a competition between other companies to get more people to want to use their service. Because of the competition, I think other companies would create plans that would attract more customers to use their service.
ReplyDeleteI already got AT&T and I'm satisfied with what I have. Might not really be cheap but at least i get good quality. Other companies are going to compete with AT&T no matter what.
ReplyDeleteI would likely change my service from AT&T after they have established this new ¨ideal¨ plan. The reason being, is because AT&T has increased the price for high definition streaming which would cause the demand of consumers to decrease. Increasing the equilibrium is a bad choice that AT&T could make due to the fact that it appeals less for consumers as there are related services such as Sprint.
ReplyDeleteI currently have the family plan with AT&T and i think it works well. We have a lot of people on the plan so it is worth it. I think that other companies may try to make deals or lower prices in order to compete with AT&T.
ReplyDeleteIf this plan keeps going on then yes i would switch. Other companies will try to compete with them, obviously there will be a bunch of people applying for ATT. Others will try to out due AT&T by attracting the people.
ReplyDeleteI don't think its worth it, so no I won't switch to AT&T. Other companies may start their new data plans too, and possibly try to beat AT&T for what they have.
ReplyDeleteI think it's smart that AT&T is choosing to offer 2 different plans. This way they can cover more of the market - kind of like how Mr. Felder's wife spoke about how Gap tries to cover all ranges of lifestyles and income brackets, by diversifying their plans, AT&T can get people to pay as much as they are willing to pay for what services they want without switching to a different provider.
ReplyDeleteI currently have At&T and I think think that it works fine, but I do not think that the new plan that they are offering is worth it switching over. Companies are always going to be offering new plans to compete, therefore just because new plans come out does not mean that people will switch over.
ReplyDeleteI currently have AT&T, and I think that other companies are going to try something new as well.
ReplyDeleteI believe that is a smart move on AT&T's part to offer 2 different plans. With this AT&T is able to cover most of the market with their multiple plans.
ReplyDeleteI would not switch to that plan I would stick with the other plan if I have the money for it. You could apply it. And other providers will try yo one up it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Thomas German because that would be a smart move that AT&T would be better off with 2 plans. There would be more options for the customers.
ReplyDeleteI think this would make customers just confused. AT&T should just completely find a new unique idea than copying sprint.
ReplyDeleteNo I would not switch to AT&T, I am pretty happy with my current plan now. Although, the plans are okay, they arent exactly for me
ReplyDeletePersonally I would not consider switching plans because I am comfortable with my plan and I don't think this is a tempting enough offer to change plans. As is the nature of capitalism I believe that this announcement of lower prices will force other companies to lower their prices as well overall still positively affecting me regardless of whether or not i switch.
ReplyDeleteI would switch to AT&T because T-Mobile comparatively has slower speed and inferior connection. However, AT&T is more expensive for me because I use cellular data so often that I need the unlimited data package, and T-Mobile has promotions sometimes which allow me to get the unlimited data plan for free.
