Starbucks says Brexit vote hit UK profits

Starbucks says Brexit vote hit UK profits

Despite a rise in global profits, Starbucks has struggled over the past year in the UK. Globally Starbucks reported record profits over the past year, but the Brexit vote and restructuring costs dragged down Starbucks financial results in the UK. In the past, Starbucks complained about its corporate tax bill in the UK, but that number has come down now with slowing sales growth.

1. With Great Britain's plans to leave the European Union, do you think Starbucks will continue struggling in the UK?

2. How might Starbucks adjust and increase their sales in the UK again?

3. What would be a good international strategy for Starbucks--invest more in Great Britain or look to other countries for growth?

  1. I dont think Starbucks will struggle as much as they did. I think Starbucks shouldn't really worry about being global because they are already doing so well right now.

  2. I think that Starbucks will have an easier time once Britain leaves the European Union. I believe it will pay off if Starbucks decides to invest in the UK more. Having the name and popularity of the product grow world wide will pay off for them as a corporation.

  6. Starbucks is a strong company right now. It will probably be hard for them to fall all of a sudden.

  7. It would be really hard for Starbucks to fail due to how strong it is. Starbucks sells a lot each day even if there are new companies opening up Starbucks still is more popular. That is why I believe it will not fail.

  8. I feel that Starbucks within in the UK can affect Starbucks but not anything dramatically because Starbucks is such a huge company within the US that I doubt the decrease in Uk will affect the whole company in total

  9. There will always be a demand for coffee in the UK, but a matter of their corporate tax rates, they should come down with the brexit vote soon.

  14. Due to the popularity of Starbucks, I don't believe that the UK's current economic situation would affect the success of the business.

  17. Starbucks is a well known coffee shop that is very popular and I would think that right now it will not fail or collapse because as you can see it's doing very swell.
