Trump’s Talk About Muslims Led Acting Attorney General to Defy Ban
In Washington, Ms. Yates’s outgoing personality made her a counterpoint to Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch, who is more reserved. At times, that made Ms. Yates the face of the Justice Department in ways that caused tension with the attorney general’s staff. Ms. Yates was regarded as professionally ambitious, though she has told friends that she has no interest in running for political office. Her firing capped three days of internal deliberations at the Justice Department. Like many others in the government, Ms. Yates, was caught by surprise Friday night by Mr. Trump’s executive order temporarily stopping all refugees from entering the country and indefinitely blocking immigration or visits from seven predominantly Muslim countries. The Office of Legal Counsel of the Justice Department had reviewed the order and signed off on its legality. But Ms. Yates and her staff lawyers believed that the department had to consider the intent of the order, which she said appeared intended to single out people based on religion.
1.) Do you believe that Donald Trump can eliminate the immigrants to come through U.S?
2.) Do you think Trump can deport the illegal immigrants?
3.) What are your thoughts about Trump and his decision about immigrants?

I do believe that under Trump's presidency, many people are going to be deported, but I don't think he can eliminate all immigrants from entering the US
ReplyDeleteI do not think he can eliminate the immigrants that come though the US. A lot of them come here to have a better life, meet up with other family members, etc. I think he will try to deport illegal immigrants, but I do not know how well it will work out for him. He will be getting more and more backlash from US citizens, as many of them are protesting almost everything Trump does. We will have to just wait and see.
ReplyDeleteI think there will be a lot of controversy about the immigrants, but Trump can not possibly get every single one deported. I think Trump's decision about immigrants is not morally correct, but I do believe it could possibly help Americans find jobs.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe Trump can ban people from coming into the US because there are way to many people that would still try to come in. Much like with deportation, Trump will be able to deport some people but will most likely not be able to deport all the people he actually wants to deport.
ReplyDeleteI do not think hes going to be able to deport all illegal immigrants. And I don't think he can eliminate immigrants from coming to the US.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Trump can stop immigrants from coming to the US. I don't think Trump will be able to deport all illegal immigrants even though he's going to try everything to do so.
ReplyDeleteEven though Trump thinks he can do anything he wants, I think that immigrants will still come to the U.S. illegally, and those who are "should be" deported will resist. I agree with Virginia: Trump is the new president and all, but millions of U.S. citizens don't respect his authority. So, it's going to be hard for him to make any drastic changes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he can stop all immigrants from coming in to the US. I feel that some immigrants will find a way to get into America.
ReplyDeleteIt will be very difficult for Trump to deport all the illegal immigrants because there is just an endless flow of them coming in. If Trump builds that wall, they will find a workaround. If there is a will, there is a way.
ReplyDeleteI think Trump saying he will deport all illegal immigrants is something that will never happen. He thinks he can do it, but there will be plenty of people standing in his way and fighting against it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that Trump is starting to take a stance against illegal immigration. Although he may or may not achieve this goal due to public protests and resistance in the government, at least he is raising awareness as president.
ReplyDeleteDeporting all immigrants is something that is not achievable. There is too many immigrants in the U.S. to deport. However, Trump is trying to prevent more from coming in which is good.
ReplyDeleteThere will never be a stop to illegal immigration flow. Trump is only hoping to slow it. The old saying if there is a will there is a way is 100% true. Even if there is wall people will find a way through it.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Trump can eliminate the immigrants coming to the US because this is something that cannot be stopped. There are already so many immigrants that will be very difficult to deport. People will continue to find different ways to come to the US.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Trump can eliminate all immigrants because the way the executive order it written, it is very broad. I think he can deport the illegal immigrants, but that would resolve in separation of families. I think Trump's decision about immigrants is not very well thought because it undermines the consequences as he is targeting the countries that were not a threat to the US.
ReplyDeleteI also do not think Trump can prevent immigrants from coming to America. There are many circumstances, whether humanitarian needs, for personal reasons, or others that justify coming to the United States. Trump cannot just give an order to prevent immigrants from coming in and sorting through the various reasons. I do not think he can deport all of the illegal immigrants since that would lead to separation of families, and many of these immigrants contribute to the economy by working as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time that I haven't been able to recognize merit in both the sides that oppose Trump and that support him, and I think it's because I see a blatant display of discrimination. Trump's motive to boost national security does not justify the total blocking of all people from predominantly muslim countries. This ban goes against the principles of American history, and devalues the idea of the American dream.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that he can deport every single immigrant that has come into the country but I do think that he can create laws that are stricter to help increase and create an immigration policy for our country.
ReplyDeleteI don't think trump will stop the immigrants coming in and i don't think he will be very successful in deporting all the immigrnts he promised to do like he said
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to believe that he could deport every single immigrant. But, the ones that he does deport will be very hard for those families. He will be separating those from their loved ones or bringing them back to a place they left for a reason. If he does succeed with deporting even half of the immigrants, it will ultimately cause harm.
ReplyDeleteI agree with quinn that he cant deport everybody. I think he should worry about other things that is causing bigger problems this should be at the bottom of his to do list.
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that he will be able to deport every immigrant. Though he claims he will, immigrants in a way do help stimulate a growth in the economy. Loosing that outlet is something I think that congress would not want turning down trumps plans on making sure theirs a limit to his deportation
ReplyDeleteWhat I've heard is that ICE and other policies are already starting to send people back just by stopping them and if they don't have a licences. He's not gonna be able to take everyone out of the U.S. I can guarantee you that and he's not going to take away my family.
