President Trump's Proposals for Taxes

Article

With Trump's new presidency, he will be proposing tax cuts that he has mentioned during his campaign. Trump wishes to reduce personal income taxes so that there are only three brackets. Trump would also like to repeal alternative minimum tax and estate tax. While his proposals may benefit some, they might not benefit others. Trump would like to repeal personal exemptions, which would require households with three dependents or more to pay more in taxes.

Questions:

Do you think Trump's tax proposal will benefit the nation?

Do you think Trump's proposal will be successful?

Will repealing personal exemptions be the downfall to Trump's proposal?

  1. If Trump's proposal even comes in to action, I think it would only benefit some people. The households with three or more dependents would be at a disadvantage with this new plan because more taxes on top of the expenses they already pay is not reasonable. It's almost like being punished for having more kids.

  2. Trumps tax proposal will benefit some people if it comes in action. Its hard to know if Trumps proposal will be successful, we'll just have to see what happens. I beleive Trumps downfall will not only be repealing personal exemptions. It most likely will be his downfall , with this economy no one can afford to pay more in taxes.

  3. I believe that Trump understands economy more than any other presidential matter, and therefore he will be able to be most effective in this area. My assumption is that he will make good adjustments to taxes but I could be wrong.

  4. Trumps's tax proposal will only benefit the rich. The middle class and lower class citizens will be paying all the taxes. The nation as a whole will not benefit from Trump's tax proposal.

  5. I don't agree with Trump's tax cuts as they will only benefit the rich, who are paying more in taxes (and who can afford to pay more in taxes). Instead, the poor will suffer because when taxes are cut, then the government has less money to spend on helping poor people. what's sad is a lot of people who voted for him are in favor of the tax cuts because they think they'll have to pay less money. But what a majority of his working class voters will soon learn is that the money they've saved not paying taxes will be overridden by the money they'll have to spend on services they need that no longer are provided by the government. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

  6. there is so such thing as a one size fits all policy. that said, the number of families with more than 3 dependants is large enough for this to be a bad idea, in my opinion. The majority of these families are also not well off enough for these changes to be inconsequential.

  7. I do not believe that Trump's new tax proposal will be a good idea because it will not help the majority of families such as those in the lower-middle to lowest class. This tax proposal will mainly benefit the wealthy who would have to pay less money.

  8. I don't think that Trump cutting taxes will help anyone who really needs help. The poor will be the ones to suffer, and the ones who will really benefit from this are the rich who can actually afford to pay these taxes.

  9. Trumps tax proposal will not benefit the nation considering that it does not benefit all Americans. Even if the proposal did come into action, this would mean a huge advantage for those living in a home with less or even no children at all which contradicts fair treatment for all others

  10. I dont think cutting taxes will help. I dont think his proposal will be successful.

  11. I think that Trumps economic plan will benefit some of the nation but not the whole nation. He should form a plan that benefits a majority of the country instead on a small amount of the population.

  12. I do not believe trumps tax proposal will benefit the nation, because it does not appeal to all Americans. The lower class will suffer from this the proposal, while the upper class will have benefit from it.

  13. Trump's proposal as stated before mainly focuses on benefitting the wealthier while the lower classes will suffer the effects of his proposal if it takes effect.

  14. Trumps tax proposal will benefit us because when taxes are cut, people will have more money. However, I do not agree with his stated tax for people with 3 or more people because itwon't benefit poor families who cannot afford to pay taxes

  15. I don't think it will benefit most people because there are a lot of people with three or more dependents in there household.

  16. I personally believe Trumps Tax proposal will only work for only a hand full of people. I believe that the tax exemptions will be the down fall of his proposal.

  17. There are benefits to these proposals. It's not all rich vs. poor. His plans on corporate tax rates will greatly benefit business competition and the creation of new firms and companies to help lower prices for ANY consumer indirectly. His tax cut proposal extends beyond simply cutting for the rich, it goes to business as well to promote a freer state.

  18. I think this proposal will work for most people. I don't think it'll b successful because presidents before him have tried to cut taxes, and its just a very long progress.

  19. It's honestly hard to say whether or not they will work. My thinking right now is that it will only work for a handful of people. I think that the personal exemption portion of the proposal is what is going to turn a lot of people off. However I can only hope that this proposal will benefit the economy and the country.

  20. As of right now I think that this will only work for some people. Previous presidents have tried to cut taxes down before and it has taken a lot time to do so. I hope that this will benefit our economy and country.

  21. I do believe Trump is the one to help make our nation benefit from this tax proposal being this method will make this tax payable to all.

  22. I believe that this tax plan will only benefit some. Repealing personal exemptions is unproductive. The government is already in debt, but I hope that Trump's plan helps the people like he says.

  23. Trumps proposal's will only benefit the higher income people and will do nothing to ease payment on lower income households

  24. I think that this won't benefit the nation as a whole as these tax cuts will only benefit the wealthy who can afford to pay these taxes. Those who are not well off and have more to spend on like children are going to have to pay more and it will not benefit them. I do not think it will help our nation

  25. I think that his tax proposal will only benefit some people. It's hard to say if it will benefit our nation or not, and I think we will have to just wait and see. I feel like Trump's presidency is going to be a lot of waiting to see what ends up happening because I think a lot of people are very unsure about what will happen and what he will do.

  26. I think Trump has started his presidency well as he did what he said he would do. Whether or not what he said he would do is good or not, at least he is not lying to the people. He did get elected based on what he wanted to do, and now we just have to wait and see the results.

  27. Trumps proposal may not go for everyone, but it will definitely benefit some people.

  28. I think Trumps proposal will work for some people but I think this will be an extremely long process because some may not approve of the tax cut since it could benefit the upper class.

  29. I feel his proposal will only benefit a small percentage of people and people who are similar to him. I don't think his program for tax cuts will benefit the majority though.

  30. I think his proposal won't benefit a lot of people but just certain amount of people.

  31. I believe that Trump's tax proposal will only benefit a certain number of people, mainly in the upper class. The upper class will benefit from tax reductions while the poorer people will not have as much benefits. As Stephanie said, reducing the taxes would result in less monetary resources available to fund government service projects. However, although there is a economic class issue, this proposal would benefit businesses and increase competition, so this proposal does propose some benefits.

  32. I believe that the tax cuts will make people happier because the tax rates nowadays is just too high. When I finish eating at restaurants, I'm not even motivated to give out tips (sometimes I just could not) because I'm paying extra money for taxes. If there's an income tax cut, I would be more generous toward tipping waiters, therefore making them happier.

  33. I think in past presidencies cutting taxes has helped strengthen the economy, but it also came with deficits. I think this plan could be beneficial, but i don't know if it will go through and be successful. I think the personal exemptions would help a lot of families.

  34. I believe that cutting taxes will just make things worse than they already are, we need to cut many other things down like housing costs first. Yes, cutting taxes has its benefits, but it has many problems like the increase of products or other things that the nation collects from.

  35. I think that cutting the taxes people pay sounds good, but in the long run won't be the best idea. Taxes do a lot for us in our society, and are the staple for a lot of the things we have. With a cut in taxes, some of the things that rely so heavily on taxes could possibly be in jeopardy. I believe we should attack the tax issue, but first deal with bigger problems at hand.

  36. Trumps tax plan aims at bringing businesses back to the United States. The personal tax reduction would bring up peoples incomes and provide for better life for majority of US residents. AMT tax is out dated and hurts more middle class people than top 1%. Personal deduction maybe another matter. It is primarily geared for middle class people. If it is structured properly it should simplify tax process.

  37. I don't think this will help the nation because it seems that what Trump is doing is helping the rich, but hurting the poor. I don't think this will be successful for the country because this will be hurting a other people. I think repealing personal exemptions could be the downfall to Trump's proposal.

  38. I think that Trump's proposal will only benefit the upper class and businesses. The poorer people who depend on the government's funds will be more at a disadvantage, because there will be less money given for service projects.

  39. While trump may feel like he's overall benefiting American Citizens, he is actually only catering to the upper class.

  40. This Proposal that Trump has will only benefit the rich. thelower and middle classes would not benefit as much from this.

  41. All trump wants is to help the upper class so the upper class can still maintain there "power". The poor and middle class that would be a disadvantage for them. Everything that Trump wants to do is not going to be successful because he wants unrealistic stuff, that he hasn't even planned out yet.
