Taco Bell sales jump; plans more fried chicken 'innovation'

This Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, photo shows a Taco Bell restaurant in Metairie, La. Yum Brands Inc. reports earnings, Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Photo: Gerald Herbert, AP / Copyright 2016 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.Taco Bell, owned by Yum Brand which also owns pizza hut and KFC, invented the deep fried chicken shell that taco bell put on their menu. The new item "lured" in more customers and plan on adding more "Naked" chicken menu items. The sales jumped up to eight percent by 3 months. The Naked Chicken Chalupa was the game changer. The result was positive for taco bell but put other food chains such as McDonalds in a negative position by struggling to get customers.

1. Would new cheap food items such as deep fried chicken continue to increase sales for Taco Bell?
2. Does "fried chicken pieces shaped like tortilla chips served with nacho cheese dip" sound appetizing?
3. Is the presented name of "Naked" a good way to title food?

  1. I think that if they keep releasing new products their stocks will continue to rise. And as for the second question, it sounded good, and tasted good too.

  2. I believe that new items will always sell, being that curiosity of people will usually push them to try new things. I do not think that the name "naked" is a good way to title the food because it just gives the wrong impression to consumers.

  3. fried chicken pieces shaped like tortilla chips served with nacho cheese dip sounds grimy i would rather get the supreme crunch wrap. Foods or drinks titles naked sound good sometimes but not all the times.

  4. I think that new cheap food items will entice more people to buy the products and will increase sales.

  5. I think that new cheap anything will lure people in despite quality, but I feel that McDonalds is still a big contender and will not struggle too much in coming out with their own new menu items.

  6. I think using the word naked to describe the food is interesting and slightly controversial. This spark may draw people in to try it, so the chicken needs to be good to keep customers coming.

  7. People appreciate Taco Bell's innovation because fried chicken is delicious, and there should be new ways to eat fried chicken.

  8. New foods at fast food restaurants always have a hype for a bit that keep customers in. Doesnt sound that great to be honest.

  9. in the food industry all new things attracts customers, and that will always bring more sales.

  10. I think when anyone hears cheap they think that it will save them money, so i do believe that this will probably either help taco bell or they will use some weird products that will disturb the public and make the company fall.

  11. I think it is good that Taco bell is making new food items and branching out of it's norm. I think that will cause a great increase in consumption. I also think it challenges competitors to be innovative and create new products too.

  12. I dont like Taco Bell, but as long as they're changing up their menu they should be fine

  13. I think that the new cheap foods items that tastes good to the customers would increase sales for Taco Bell. I think that the name "naked" might get customers interested in what the company is selling, and I think that those kinds of names is what gets people curious.

  14. I think that many people were drawn to this out of curiosity since taco bell introduced a completely new item. I think that this would help taco bell increase its sales despite the lower quality food. I think "naked" makes people curious, and the increased popularity only makes customers want to try out the fad. Other competitors like McDonald's are still very popular, and I think they have to expand their menu in order to compete.

  15. I also agree that new items will always sell as people are curious and always want to try new things. The people who do like it, will continue to buy it, but for those that don't like it will stick to items on the regular menu.

  16. I think that it will draw attention and people will buy it and like Jacob said if they don't like it there are other items on the menu that people could purchase and eat instead.

  17. As new items are released on the menu it would definitely tempt people to want to try the new product. I would myself like to try the new food as well for it sounds/looks appealing.

  18. In today's society, people are attracted and intrigued by things that they don't see everyday. A taco with a chicken shell? That's definitely something we don't see everyday. Taco Bell knows their and their market, so they will continue to release new and shocking things to entertain their customers.

  19. I believe it will increase sales at taco bell , it will draw attention to to what they liked. That might seem appetizing but its all for the money. Naked isn't a good way to title food because it doesn't give a good impression

  20. I believe it will increase their sales. Not really. I wouldn't say so because it implies a strange connotation.

  21. I think it would increase in their sales.I don't think taco bell in general sounds appetizing.

  22. Props to Taco Bell, usually some of their stuff is wack, but the naked chicken chalupa is fire, I personally love naked things so this is gr8

  23. I personally think that people will go to taco bell regardless, but i think it will increase revenues. I personally don't think it is appetizing.

  26. That sounds nasty. Taco bell is supposed to sell Mexican type food, they shouldn't feel that they need to diversify their menu just to increase sales. It would be like jamba juice trying to sell Indian food.

  27. Man I love taco bell. Keep as it is! Taco Bell is great and should stay the same

  28. In my life time I have never seen as creative of a marketing team than the crazy stuff that Taco Bell has pulled over the years. It all started from their humble beginnings as a quesadilla shack, but then we introduced the Doritos Locos Taco and so began an era of new creativity taking science to the next extreme. I remmber the boss nahos and the triple crunch wrap. The formula is take a mexican item and add chips to it and fry it like hell. Or take a classic like the chalupa and invert it. Now we want chicken tendies as the shape of a nacho and there you have it Taco Bell creativity

  29. I personally am not a fan of taco bell so regardless of what they, unless they improve the quality of their food I will not go there.

  30. I think that every time Taco Bell comes up with something new, people are going to buy it. Taco Bell's popularity continues to increase with their new items and I can see their popularity continuing to increase.

  31. I think that cheap new food will attract customers because a lot of people are tired of paying a lot of money for food also this could be good.

  32. I do not think that name sounds appealing, it sounds pretty gross to be quite honest. then again I may have a bias opinion because I am not a fan of taco bell other than those freezy drink.

  33. Taco Bell doesn't work well for California because in California, real authentic tacos are much cheaper than the fake ones that they sell in Taco Bell. It is great to see Taco Bell trying to reach a large audience.

  34. I agree that Taco Bell cannot thrive in California because Mexican culture is significant in a lot of places in the Bay Area. Naturally, people here prefer authenticity over fast food, americanized tacos.
