Amazon Lowers Free Shipping Minimum

Image result for amazon

Amazon has now lowered the minimum for those who are not Prime members to $25 of eligible items.
Making it easy for consumers to qualify for free shipping, the company has lowered the minimum 29% where it stood before at $35. Considering consumers shop more online from their computers or mobile device this was their next move. Also, another reason why Amazon made this change in their Free Shopping Policy is due to the fact that Walmart has made an offer for shipping that used to be better for consumers before this change made by Amazon.

Questions:

1) Was lowering the Free Shipping Minimum an efficient move for Amazon to make? Explain.

2) Would the change in their Free Shipping policy tempt you to order online from Amazon?

3) Is this a reasonable minimum, or would you want it to be lowered even more?

  1. I think that it was because it would increase consumer spending because consumers wouldn't have to spend money on shipping. It would tempt me to order from Amazon because often times delivery fees make the price go up really high and people don't account for that price increase.

  4. It definitely was a smart move for Amazon, because it will encourage people to buy more without having to worry about the costs of shipping, especially for one or two items. I am a Prime member, but if I wasn't, it would definitely tempt me to buy from there. I think it's a pretty reasonable amount because $35 was too much but $20 is also too little.

  7. Amazon is doing great work to promote online shopping, which is the future of shopping. It is time for the US to keep up with the rest of the world such as China, Japan, and Europe, and abandon the old, tiring, and inconvenient traditional shopping.

  11. I think this is a smart play because I think the sole reason I don't buy things online more is because of shipping. I think at this price both the producer (Amazon) and the consumer are getting a fair price, so it's a win win situation.

  19. I think that this is a very good idea because shipping charge is taken into account when purchasing items online. For example, if I really need a specific item for an upcoming event but it costs $20 for same day delivery, I am not going to purchase the item at all.

  30. I don't think that this will affect Amazon that intensely. It really seems like a marginal difference considering how many people use (or share) their Prime service.

  37. I think the reason why Amazon can do this is because it has grown so big, they can afford to reduce prices on things. It's a smart move to compete against Walmart because this change will definitely help its sales.

  38. I don't think they should have lowered the rates. Although this seems to attract more consumers, this will ultimately decrease their sales because the threshold has now been lowered, leading for consumers to buy less. If they had kept it at $35, this would have placed more pressure on consumers to spend more.

  39. i think that lowering the rates will probably increase customers.

  45. I think it was a good move because the price of shipping defers many of their costumers. I believe their sales will increase with this adjustment.

  46. I think the lower was smart but at the same time there was no real point. People will buy things if the price is $35 or $25. But, If the price for free shipping is $25 instead it migtht be more effective because if someone buys an item for $20 they might highly consider spebding $5 more dollars to get free shipping.
