Delta is making all in-flight entertainment free
link
On almost all airplanes, there are TV's on the back of the seats with a variety of movies, tv shows, music and more. Of course this is convenient and useful on any flight, but you usually have to pay some ridiculous amount of money in order to access whats on the TV. Delta Airlines has announced that they will now be offering all of this for free. Delta will be one of the only airlines offering entertainment for free to all customers. The only downside to this is that it will take away a great source of income from the company. Delta will now need to find other ways to get the money that they are losing by providing free entertainment.
Questions:
1. Does this make you want to fly on Delta Airlines?
2. Do you usually use the TV screens during your flight?
3. What do you think the company could do to get more money?

Well I personally wouldn't care if they were giving free entertainment out because I would be sleeping most of the time anyways. I believe they should gain their money by charging extra on drinks like alcoholic drinks.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is fair to make these free -> i think that they should charge food, and alcoholic drinks instead of charging for free entertainment(especially because its a more modern age where everyone uses this entertainment)
ReplyDeleteDepending on the length of the flight, this would change the airline that I choose. When there is a TV available, I usually use it.
ReplyDeleteI still enjoy United Airlines' treatment better but this is a good start for Delta airlines since people can spend their money more on food rather than on entertainment on the flight.
ReplyDeleteThis could encourage people to fly more with Delta, but I don't think it's a huge factor in deciding which airline company I'd personally go with. Delta isn't the first to offer free entertainment either.
ReplyDeleteI think that this will make people want to fly Delta more. I usually do not use TV screens during my flight because I tend to sleep, unless it is a long flight. I think that they need to continue thinking of more options to get more money.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love using the TV screens on airplanes, because airplane rides are boring. However, like other people have said, Delta isn't the only airline that offers free entertainment, so I don't think there will be a big uptake in Delta ticket sales.
ReplyDeleteI believe that delta is expecting this free entertainment to cause more people to buy tickets and therefore it will make up its cost in the long run. Personally i like the on flight entertainment because it is an alternative to using your own electronic devises which would use up your battery.
ReplyDeleteI think that this will lead to the prices of Delta tickets increasing
ReplyDeleteLike nicole said, t will prob lead to higher delta tickets. I dont really care about the tv on a plane because I listen to music anyways.
ReplyDeletethat's a nice move from Delta and for sure it will attract more people to fly with them, but the most important is great customers servise that what will make me want to fly with them.
ReplyDeleteA lot of airlines provide free entertainment, so I think it may increase ticket sales but not by a significant margin. If they want to increase ticket sales, a more effective way would be increased space between seats, cheaper tickets, or free food. Then people would be encouraged to fly with them.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to fly delta for long flights, but other than that it does not really matter to me. Also, many people already download movies and tv shows on their laptops or phones.
ReplyDeleteFree entertainment does not drag me into an airline. During the flight, I'm usually asleep or listening to music on my cell phone. Delta airlines should do a remodel to the interior of their planes to drag in customers.
ReplyDeleteI think after what had happened with United, Delta took the opportunity to shine some positive light on their company. Although, providing free entertainment to all of their customers is going to be expensive, so they will probably have to raise the prices on their tickets.
ReplyDeletethis does make me want to take Delta, it's a good marketing tactic. I dont usually watch entertainment on flights because they cost money and I dont care for them usually.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually go on airplanes ,but when I do there usually isn't tv screens on ever chair. I don't really care to watch tv on airplanes.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely gives me an incentive to go on delta. I rarely do because I usually have to pay for it. If I could I might. Build off other companies mishaps.
ReplyDeleteThis does make me want to fly Delta because of the things it offers me now. The company could offer more free stuff to attract customers
ReplyDeleteI probably would want to fly Delta. It would make the flight easier because you either watching a good tv show or you're watching a movie.
ReplyDeleteThis does make me want to fly Delta because of the benefits that come with. I would love to sit back, relax, and watch a good movie.
ReplyDeleteIt does make me want to take delta because I would be spending less money and i could just relax and not worry about all the money im paying just to watch a simple movie.
ReplyDeleteIt does make me want to take delta because I would be spending less money and i could just relax and not worry about all the money im paying just to watch a simple movie.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do fly, I usually fly on red eye flights so I'm usually sleeping. Therefore, I wouldn't really use the screen.
ReplyDeleteI think this will encourage some people to fly with delta, but that they should be charging for the alcoholic drinks and food. In todays society, technology seems to be more important.
ReplyDeleteI think this is funny that they did that because it is obviously because of all the negative images they were getting. I think it is a great insentative for delta to use. I also do use the entertainment in flights because the international flights that I take are normally free. But domestic flights, yeah it cost money and I don't use them. I think they are going to go after the bags, I think carry ons might cost and normal baggage will cost more. Tickets also might slightly increase.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to fly Delta. I do use the TV screens during my flight. I'm not sure this will be a major loss of money because more people will want to fly Delta.
ReplyDeleteI think entertainment should be free regardless. When I use international flights, I get unlimited access to the TV, which is already included in my payment. However, it is nice to see other flight airlines trying to upgrade their customer service.
ReplyDeleteI agree that is is about time this happens. So many things on airlines are so expensive that I think doing this will increase sales and customer loyalty.
