Do you think it was the right choice to impeach president Park Geun-hye?
Should people just accept that she was impeached or should they continue  to protest?
Should South Korea be worried that North Korea will take advantage of the political chaos?

  1. I believe the president shouldn't have been impeached if there was no true evidence of what she was accused of. People should keep protesting to get order back. It's understandable why they feel this fear. They feel like North Korea is gonna take over and that is not okay, they should keep their liberty.

  2. I totally agree with Elizabeth C. Based on Elizabeth B.'s minimal summary of what's going on in South Korea, I don't believe President Park Geun-hye did anything wrong, and so she was impeached for no reason. It's important to protest when citizens have freedom to do so, especially when there's a such a dire situation like this.

  5. I believe south Korea should retain its cautiousness that its had for all the years north Korea was deemed a communist state. Once the south lets it guard down I feel that the north will see their opportunity to conquer all of Korea as their own.

  6. There was no significant evidence for her to be impeached, so there was reason for her impeachment. The people should continue to protest in order to not do anymore mistakes. Yes they should be worried they should keep their liberty.

  7. I feel that if consider both possibilities, their can be fault in both scenarios. If their President was not impeached then their would be a corruption in their judicial system. However, now that she has been impeached, this would mean North Korea could take over South Korea considering it cannot sustain itself after the current event. Also, protesting after what happened will not change the fact that she has been impeached. Instead of protest, South Korea should find another adequate leader to rejoice their country.

  8. I believe for her to be impeached there would have to be a lot of evidence. She does have fault, but there have been worst cases where presidents to major things and yet they gather up all evidence, but in this case I feel like there wasn't enough.

  9. The president shouldn't have been impeached if there wasn't concrete evidence that she did anything wrong. Also i don't think north korea will actually be able to do much of anything since the country isn't falling apart or anything at the moment.

  10. I think that it was right for the South Korean people to take action against the corrupt actions going on in their central government. They shouldn't brush off the illegal actions of the president just to preserve a strong facade. They should reform the central government when necessary, making the country stronger altogether.

  11. I think the Korean people should accept that she is being impeached is it is obvious that she isn't compatible with the rest of government. I dont think South Korea should worry about North Korea as they have plenty of issues themselves.

  12. corruption is corruption, regardless of who the the perpetrator is. If she is being legitimately impeached, it should be accepted

  13. I feel like it was right for there to be an impeachment on the president because if she did something wrong, she should definitively be impeached.

  14. I think that this was the correct decision because her being the president she needs to abide to certain rules, and if she cannot follow them then she doesn't deserve to be in office.

  15. I think that if they can protest if they want but it was definitely right to impeach the president

  16. I think that they should gather ample evidence to prove what she did is wrong to impeach her. Accusations simply aren't enough because anyone can accuse people of doing something; it is up to the evidence to actually show and prove it.

  17. I would have like to see more evidence in terms of the president. If she did something wrong than yeah she should be impeached. I think that they have the right to keep protesting if they would like to there is nothing wrong with being disgruntled. Yeah I definitely would be seeing that the North Korean president is slightly crazy.

  18. I believe that she should not have been impeached because of the lack of evidence the crime had. All they can do is accept that the leader was impeached but they can still riot if they don't feel that they're voice is being heard. Yes, they should be worried.

  19. I think this is the classic bait and switch impeachment kind of thing. It's almost like the whole Richard Nixon scenario you never know who has fake people showing fake love. The bottom line is that it's all a conspiracy to get Kim-Jong Un's far-removed left wing brother to rise to power and than have the epic Un bowl over the 38th parallel

  20. I don't think she should be impeached because it is not that big of a deal especially if the foundations were for good. I don't think that South Koreans should be worried about North Korea solely because North Korea has their own problems right now.

  21. I think that she should not be impeached, if there was no clear evidence then there should not be a case for impeachment. I do not believe that the people should give up. I think if that is what the people want then they should strive for what they want and believe in

  22. I do not believe that the president should be impeached, for she what she was doing was overall for the benefit of the people. She should have received consequences, but should not have been impeached. Being 100% South Korean, my father loved her as president and was his favorite South Korean president.

  23. I don't think that she should've been impeached, if what she was doing was for the overall good. I think that if the people disagree with the situation they should have the freedom to speak their minds and protest if they want.

  24. I think it was a good idea to impeach the President for her injustice acts, however it was a bad idea for North Korea greatly benefits from the opposing beliefs. People should come to an agreement so that they do not fall victim to North Korea as a whole

  25. I don't think there president should've been impeached. I think people are always going to fight for what they believe in and not stay silent. I think they should be worried.

  26. I don't think she should have been impeached and I think the reasoning behind it wasn't very good

  27. I don't think she should have been impeached but I also don't think she went about her business properly. She should have conducted her actions less in secret. I also don't think people need to feel that their rights are being stripped. It was a government action that happens in America as well. FInally, I do think South Korea should be worried about the imagie they are presenting publicly. They seem weak as a country and vounerable with might lead North Korea to attempt to take over.

  28. I feel as if the people felt that there was injustice with her impeachment, then they should continue to protest. However, if they know she is in the wrong and her impeachment was an appropriate move, they should accept it. I agree that the deaths should be looked into, however.

  29. It's kind of late to respond to this post but reading the comments, I felt strongly opposed to many of them. I think it was right to remove Park Geun Hye from office for a number of reasons. Firstly, if over 75% of the country supports impeachment, I think it was the South Korean congress' duty to reflect public opinion. Knowing that South Korea's political scene is pretty polarized and split near 50-50 (Park won with 51.6% of the vote), having 75% disapproval is a pretty strong statement. Moreover, despite some claims of "lack of evidence" - it's pretty clear that she crossed clear lines by allowing a friend have extreme political power without holding an elected office of any type. In a country where corruption is far more prevalent than it should be in a democratic system, I think it was important to make a show of saying "hey, this is not okay, and we're going to stand up against it."

  30. Impeaching was not a good idea; it isn't even humanistic. They should continue to protest because if they don't, impeaching presidents for no reason would seem reasonable and okay.

  31. People should accept the fact that they were impeached because it is only going to create more chaos and make this whole ordeal take longer, north korea will not likely be able to actually do anything against south korea and they would likely be too afraid of american intervention.
